The Utah Nursing Consortium is a collaboration of Utah’s eight publicly funded nursing programs and our health care industry partners. These eight schools educate 2/3 of Utah’s nursing workforce. The Consortium’s goal is to increase the number of new RNs licensed in Utah each year in order to continue Utah’s legacy of excellent care in a cost-effective manner.
Utah Nursing Consortium Project Director Teresa Garrett met with lawmakers this legislative session in hopes of securing an additional $2.6 million in funding for the state’s eight publicly-funded nursing schools. That money would help prepare an additional 100 RNs to enter Utah’s healthcare workforce. This was an excellent building year, and we look forward to what Teresa and the Utah Nursing Consortium can accomplish next.
