Honors for Nursing Event: May 12, 2017
We all have a nurse in our life that we know and love. Show them how much you value their hard work and selflessness by recognizing them at Honors for Nursing.
Founder’s Day Scholarship Recipient
College of Nursing was honored again at Founder’s day, when second year nursing student, Sydney Chan, received the Founder’s Day Scholarship. This scholarship is given to one student who has overcome challenges and made significant contributions to the U and their community. Sydney is a volunteer with several groups and a leader in the Bennion Center. She says, “I am very proud of my heritage and hope to build, confidence, courage, and character in those I help.” We are so proud of you Sydney! Great job!
Laura Sofia Ortega Flores
Flores, who emigrated to the U.S. with her family from Ensenada, Mexico in 2000, received the National Hispanic Health Foundation Scholarship in Los Angeles in December.
“I want to become a nurse to serve both the patient and family, with quality knowledge, respect, compassion, and love. I want to be an advocate for my patients with their healthcare team to improve their quality of care,” Flores said.
She is a NEAP student at the College of Nursing.
